
ABOUT THE TUCSON
USS Tucson (SSN 770) is the second ship of the United States Navy to bear the name of this Arizona city. The first Tucson was a light cruiser, designated CL-98 then reclassified as a light anti-aircraft cruiser CLAA-98. The new Tucson (SSN 770) is the 59th Los Angeles class attack submarine and the 20th of the Improved-Los Angeles class attack submarine to be built. Her construction began on 10 June 1988 and her keel was laid September, 1991. She was launched on March 20, 1994 and commissioned on September 9 1995.

Length: 362 ft, Beam: 33 ft, Draft: 31 ft
Propulsion: A S6G PWR Nuclear Reactor with a D2W core supplying steam to 2 Propulsion Steam Turbines delivering 33,000 SHP to a Single Shaft and Propeller. Also supplies steam to 2 Steam Turbine Electric Generators for shipboard electrical power.

Armaments consist of 4 - 21in diameter Torpedoe Tubes and 12 - Vertical Launch Tomahawk Missile Tubes which a various of Torpedoes, Mines and Missiles can be launched from.

The Standard Crew Compliment consist of 12 Officers and 98 Enlisted but can range up to 135 personnel depending on mission and expertise required.
